Neiman Marcus' Million Dollar Dip

This recipe originated in the 1950's supposedly at a Neiman Marcus in Texas. It's probably called Million Dollar Dip because of the rich ingredients. It has withstood the test of time because it is so decadent and delicious.

Ingredients

1/2 c. slivered almonds
8 slices bacon
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
1 c. mayonnaise
8 oz. shredded Cheddar cheese (about 2 c.)
4 green onions, thinly sliced thin, divided
pinch cayenne pepper

Toast the almonds in a skillet over medium heat until golden brown; set aside to cool.

Cook the bacon until extra crispy; drain; cool; chop into bits; set aside.

Combine the softened cream cheese and mayonnaise in a bowl; mix until smooth. Add the shredded cheese, bacon bits, 3 green onions, almonds, and cayenne pepper; nix until combined. Top with the remaining green onion. Cover.

Chill for at least 1 hour.

Serve with buttery crackers or raw veggies.
