This is a decadent dessert that will make everyone happy. It's the perfect way to celebrate any special occasion.
7 oz. chocolate, chopped
1 c. heavy cream
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. water
2 T. unsalted butter
1 t. vanilla extract
1/4 t. salt
Line a loaf pan with plastic wrap.
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate in short intervals, stirring until smooth; set aside to cool slightly.
In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream until hot, but not boiling. Remove from heat; set aside.
In another saucepan, combine the sugar and water; cook over medium-high heat until the sugar dissolves and turns into a golden caramel color. Remove from heat; stir in the butter, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
Slowly pour the hot cream into the caramel mixture, stirring continuously until well combined.
Gradually whisk in the melted chocolate until smooth and glossy.
Pour the mixture into the prepared loaf pan. Smooth the top with a spatula. Cover with more plastic wrap.
Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, until set.
Remove the terrine from the pan using the plastic wrap to lift it out of the loaf pan. Slice.
Serve chilled.
