This festive cake is great for summertime holidays. It's a light, cool, dessert that's easy to make and will surely be a hit at any gathering.
1 box white cake mix plus ingredients listed on the box
3.3 oz. box strawberry or cherry Jell-o
3.3 oz. box blueberry Jell-o
2 c. boiling water, divided (1 c. for each Jell-o)
1 c. cold water, divided (1/2 c. for each Jell-o)
8 oz. whipped cream or Cool Whip
red, white and blue sprinkles, for garnish
Prepare cake mix as directed on the box. Bake in a 9×13 baking pan.
Poke holes at 1 inch intervals into the still warm cake with the end of a wooden spoon.
Let cool for 1 hour.
Prepare both Jell-o packages separately as directed on the boxes, BUT only add 1/2 c. cold water after adding Jell-o mix to the 1 c. boiling water for each flavor.
Pour Jell-o into a 2 tall glasses. Using a straw, fill the straw with the liquid JELL-O and place in every other hole in the cake. Do this with BOTH the red and blue Jell-o.
Chill 3 - 4 hours.
Refrigerate until ready to serve.
Serve topped with whipped cream and sprinkles.
