If you are looking for something different to serve as an appetizer, look no further. These water chestnuts are simple and quick to make and are made with just 4 ingredients.
10 oz. canned whole water chestnuts, drained
1/4 c. low-sodium soy sauce
1/2 c. white sugar (or brown sugar for a richer flavor)
8 thin bacon slices (cut in half)
Place the water chestnuts and soy sauce in a plastic bag or bowl. Marinate at least 20 minutes, or up to 1 hour, tossing mixture periodically to ensure an even coating.
Discard the liquid.
Roll each water chestnut in the sugar; wrap one half of a piece of bacon around each; secure each with wooden toothpicks.
Place wrapped water chestnuts in the air fryer basket, making sure to not overcrowd them. Cook in the air fryer at 390 degrees F for 8-10 minutes, turning once halfway through.
Serve hot.
