his is an easy dessert or treat to make, especially in the fall. It's prepared with canned apple pie filling, soft flour tortillas, cinnamon, butter, and white sugar. They taste like an apple pie without all of the work.
20 oz. can apple pie filling
12 medium soft flour tortillas
1/4 c. unsalted butter, melted
1/2 c. sugar
1 t. cinnamon
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Brush a 9×13 baking dish with a bit of the melted butter.
In a shallow plate, stir together the sugar and cinnamon.
Empty the can of pie filling onto a large cutting board; use a knife to chop the apples into smaller pieces.
Lay a tortilla flat; top with several tablespoons of the apple pie filling. Tightly roll up the tortilla.
Brush the taquito with butter; roll it in the sugar/cinnamon mixture. Place the taquito in the prepared baking dish.
Repeat with remaining tortillas and pie filling. There should be filling for 12 tortillas.
Bake for about 15 minutes or until the taquitos start to get golden on top. Start checking the taquitos around the 12 minute mark to ensure they don’t overbrown.
Serve with caramel sauce, if desired.
12 servings.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven to maintain crispness.
