You don't need to go to the restaurant to enjoy these smokey, sweet and salty green beans. They're made with canned green beans, bacon, onion, chicken broth and a bit of garlic. In 30 minutes you'll have a side dish you'll serve often.
6 slices bacon, cut into small pieces
32 oz. canned green beans, drained
1/3 c. diced onion
1 garlic clove, minced
2 T. butter
1/2 c. chicken broth
1 t. sugar
1/2 t. pepper
Place bacon pieces in a large, deep skillet on medium-high heat until cooked. Remove bacon from skillet; drain on a paper towel lined plate. Do not discard the bacon grease.
Add green beans, bacon, chicken broth, butter, onion, garlic, and sugar to the skillet. Bring to a simmer; lower heat to medium-low. Cover; simmer about 10 minutes, or until green beans are warm and tender.
