Even in the human world, it wasn't a usual occurrence to see men take care of the children while the mom goes to work until the late 20th century. To see male animals do the work of their female counterpart is quite a surprise too.

For the male Emperor Penguins of the Antartic, the love for their families takes on a whole new meaning. When the male meets a female penguin, they stick together for a year, in which the female would produce and lay down an egg. Such an endeavor greatly exhausts the female and she, along with the other moms, go to the ocean to replenish themselves. The eggs are left to the male Emperor penguins and for the next 64 days, the male population balances the egg between their feet and makes sure it's warm.

They wait for the females to arrive before they can eat! How's that for fatherly love?
