Before Disney ventured into the world of princesses, it made a sort of test run film inspired by no less than a Greek goddess! Persephone is like an honorary princess because she's actually the first royalty (she is a Greek goddess) to ever grace the Disney-princess world.

Disney decided to create a Silly Symphonies short film called "The Goddess of Spring" before creating "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." The premise of the film very much resembles that of the original Greek tale about Pluto kidnapping the goddess until the earth became an icy wasteland. The two finally struck a compromise and Pluto allowed her to go back to the world of the living if she stays in the underworld for six months. Thus, the four seasons are created!
