Those of us who worked closely with him also remember Joseph’s important role in shaping Kenya’s political journey. As a founder member of the Democratic Party (DP), led by the then Leader of the Official Opposition — Kenya’s fourth Vice President, H.E. Mwai Kibaki — Joseph was instrumental in strengthening the party’s vision, ideology, and organisational discipline. He served with absolute loyalty and remained a steady pillar of wisdom during a defining era in our national politics. His love for the Democratic Party was unwavering, and he remained devoted to it until his final day, serving faithfully as its Patron.
As Minister for Livestock Development, Joseph left a legacy that will endure for generations. He led from the front and spearheaded the turnaround of the Kenya Meat Commission (KMC), restoring confidence in an institution that had long struggled. His leadership revitalised the livestock sector and brought renewed hope to pastoral and farming communities across our country. This transformation stands as one of the clearest testaments to his competence, integrity, and belief in building strong national institutions.
Yet beyond titles and offices, Joseph was a quiet yet powerful presence; humble, principled, and deeply respectful. He entered every room with a calm strength and left an imprint of integrity and grace. His humour, wisdom, and steady temperament made him a trusted confidant and a beloved elder brother to many of us.
As the Lord reminds us in the Book of Matthew 25:23: “Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your master.” May this promise comfort the Munyao family, knowing that Joseph’s faithful life and service have been recognised in the highest realm.

I pray that God carries you through this valley of sorrow and that Joseph’s memory, his discipline, patriot
