While famous people like Kendall Jenner and Vanessa Hudgens have been making the minimalist micro tattoo a popular trend these days, another inky style is making big waves due to its rather bold style.

Singapore-based artist Chester Lee of Oracle Tattoo recently posted a picture of his customer above and it drew so many reactions from the netizens. Why? Because the tattoo happens to cover a huge part of the body and indeed, is nearly just a solid black color. Tattoos have evolved from something that was taboo into a form of expressing one's self, however some find this style "too extreme."

But many people are loving the so-called "blackout tattoos" which are tattoos that almost always completely cover a certain body part (arm, leg, etc.) with a block color and some intricate designs made from it. It's a lot like body painting, except that it's more permanent and would typically be limited to the color black - a color most often used in tattoos.

Blackout tattoos are ideal if you want to cover up previous designs that you don't like or correcting tattoo mistakes. Some also us it as a background for making intricate designs through the skin that wasn't tattooed on. While it's certainly shocking for most people , it only takes one famous person to make it the next big thing for everyone.
