"Why not tutor?" is a question I get asked quite often.
Six years.
During this time, many of my colleagues have gone freelance, into cozy private practice offices where there are no reports, no hallway duty, and 30 people in a class.
And I understand them. Tutoring is comfort and money.
But why am I still here?
Because school offers something you can't get behind closed doors—one-on-one time with a student.
Tutoring is about intimacy. School is about the "stadium."
School is when you walk into a classroom and 30 pairs of eyes look at you. Different ones. Sad, happy, bold, searching. And you share your developments not with just one person, but with the entire class...
Yes, school is exhausting. But it also gives you a personal dimension that I'm not willing to trade for comfortable silence.
For six years now, I've been choosing this noise. And as long as my heart beats to the rhythm of the school bell, I'll stay. 🔔❤️
Perhaps, with time, I'll change my mind about tutoring, but for now, this is it.
