Want a delicious homemade spaghetti sauce but don't have a lot of time? Try this homemade sauce. It can be ready and on your pasta in about 30 minutes.
3 T. olive oil
1/3 c. onion, diced
2-3 cloves garlic, minced
5 T. tomato paste
28 oz. canned crushed tomatoes
1 t. dried oregano
1 t. dried basil
salt, to taste
freshly ground black pepper, to taste
In a saucepan over medium heat, add olive oil; saute onion and garlic; add tomato paste; cook for 5-7 minutes or until tomato paste has caramelized. Add tomatoes, oregano, and basil; reduce heat to a simmer; cook for 15-20 minutes or until desired thickness is reached. Add salt and pepper, to taste.
6 servings.
*For a chunkier sauce, use a mixture of diced tomatoes and crushed tomatoes.
