This is an amazing gravy that is easy to make, economical, and mouth watering good. Serve it over biscuits, mashed potatoes, rice, egg noodles, or even torn up pieces of bread to make gravy bread.
1 lb. lean ground beef
1/2 small onion, diced or grated
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 T. butter or olive, if needed
1 T. Worcestershire sauce
3 T. flour
1 c. milk*
1 c. beef broth*
1 bouillon cube
salt and pepper, to taste
Brown the ground beef, onion and garlic together until no pink remains. DO NOT drain.
There should be some fat in the bottom of the skillet, but if not, add 1 T. butter or oil. Stir in Worcestershire sauce; stir in flour; cook 2 minutes. Add remaining ingredients; stir.
Cook over medium heat until thickened and bubbly. Season with salt and pepper, to taste.
Serve immediately.
Gravy can last up to 4 days in the refrigerator.
6 servings.
*If a creamier gravy is preferred, reduce broth to 1/2 cup and increase milk to 1 1/2 cups.
