Description

Start the morning off right with this easy to make French toast. It's made with thick bread soaked in a custard mixture and served with maple syrup, raspberry preserves and powdered sugar.

Ingredients

  • 6 extra large eggs
  • 1 1/2 c. half-and-half or milk
  • 1 t. grated orange zest
  • 1/2 t. pure vanilla extract
  • 1 T. good quality honey
  • 1/2 t. kosher salt
  • 1 large loaf challah or brioche bread
  • unsalted butter
  • vegetable oil
  • Optional for Serving:
  • pure maple syrup
  • good quality raspberry preserves, optional
  • sifted powdered sugar, optional

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 250 degrees F.
  2. Slice the bread into 3/4" thick slices.
  3. In a large, shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, half-and-half, orange zest, vanilla, honey, and salt.
