Description
Start the morning off right with this easy to make French toast. It's made with thick bread soaked in a custard mixture and served with maple syrup, raspberry preserves and powdered sugar.
Ingredients
- 6 extra large eggs
- 1 1/2 c. half-and-half or milk
- 1 t. grated orange zest
- 1/2 t. pure vanilla extract
- 1 T. good quality honey
- 1/2 t. kosher salt
- 1 large loaf challah or brioche bread
- unsalted butter
- vegetable oil
- Optional for Serving:
- pure maple syrup
- good quality raspberry preserves, optional
- sifted powdered sugar, optional
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 250 degrees F.
- Slice the bread into 3/4" thick slices.
- In a large, shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, half-and-half, orange zest, vanilla, honey, and salt.
