Whether you call it a grinder or a sub sandwich, it starts the same way, with a hoagie roll as the base, an assortment of deli meats, cheese and a tangy slaw.
Ingredients
- Slaw:
- 1/2 c. pepperoncini peppers, thinly sliced
- 1/4 c. freshly shredded Parmesan cheese
- 1/3 c. mayonnaise
- 1 t. red wine vinegar
- 1 t. dried oregano
- 1/2 t. granulated garlic or garlic powder
- 1/4 t. kosher salt
- 1/4 t. crushed red pepper flakes, or to taste
- 4 c. iceberg lettuce, shredded
- 1/4 c. red onion, very thinly sliced
- Sandwiches:
- 4 hoagie rolls
- 8 oz. thinly sliced salami
- 8 oz. smoked or honey ham
- 8 oz. smoked or honey roasted turkey
- 4 oz. prosciutto
- 8 oz. sliced Provolone cheese
- 2 tomatoes, sliced 1/4" thick
- 1/4 c. freshly shredded Parmesan cheese
Steps
- Slaw:
- In a medium bowl, combine the pepperoncini, Parmesan cheese, mayo, vinegar, oregano, garlic, salt, and red pepper flakes; stir. Add the lettuce and onions; toss.
