Description
This simple to prepare pasta dish isn't simple tasting. These cheese filled tortellini are smothered in a velvety garlic cream sauce that is just as delicious as it sounds.
Ingredients
2 c. cheese tortellini pasta, fresh or frozen
2 T. salted butter
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 t. Italian seasoning
1/4 t. salt
1/8 t. freshly ground black pepper, or to taste
1/2 c. heavy cream
2 t. freshly grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for serving, if desired
freshly chopped parsley, for garnish

Bring a large pot of well salted water to a boil. Add the tortellini; cook until al dente, about 7-9 minutes for frozen and a little less for fresh. Reserve 1 c. pasta cooking water for later use; drain the tortellini.
In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook for about 1 minute until garlic is fragrant.
Add the heavy cream; bring to a light simmer; cook for 2-3 minutes to thicken slightly. Stir in the Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
Add the cooked tortellini to the cream sauce, stirring well. If the sauce is too thick, add some reserved pasta water a little at a time, until the desired consistency is reached.
Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley and more Parmesan cheese, if desired.
