Description

Your family will ask for this dish to be placed on your regular meal rotation. The beef turns out tender and the tomato gravy is great served with mashed potatoes, egg noodles or cooked rice.

Ingredients

1 1/2 lb. round steak
1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 t. paprika
1/2 t. garlic powder
1/2 t. black pepper
2 T. olive oil, or as needed
2 yellow onions, chopped
2 carrots, chopped
28 oz. can diced tomatoes with juices
10 oz. beef broth
1 T. Worcestershire sauce

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Use a meat mallet to pound meat to 1/2″ thickness.

Combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper, to taste. Dredge the meat in the flour mixture.

Heat 1 T. olive oil over medium heat in an oven proof deep skillet or a dutch oven. Brown steaks on both sides, adding more olive oil if needed. Set aside on a platter.

Place onions and carrots in the pot; top with browned steaks. Add the remaining ingredients, except for the corn starch. Cover; cook on low heat for 2 1/2 to 3 hours.

Serve with mashed potatoes, cooked rice or egg noodles.
