Description

These gourmet meatballs are cooked in a creamy, savory, rich mushroom gravy. They are perfect to serve with mashed potatoes, egg noodles or rice.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. lean ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
  • 1/3 c. bread crumbs
  • 1/4 c. milk
  • 1/2 t. garlic powder
  • 1/2 t. onion powder
  • salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 egg
  • 2 T. olive oil
  • Gravy:
  • 1 T. butter
  • 8 oz. fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 c. beef broth
  • 1 T. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 t. Dijon mustard
  • 2 T. flour
  • salt and pepper, to taste

Steps

  1. Meatballs:
  2. In a large bowl, mix together ground beef, bread crumbs, milk, garlic and onion powders, egg, salt and pepper, until well combined. Form the mixture into meatballs.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat; brown meatballs on all sides. Remove from the skillet; set aside. Discard excess grease.
