Gourmet Meatballs in a Rich Mushroom Sauce

Description
These gourmet meatballs are cooked in a creamy, savory, rich mushroom gravy. They are perfect to serve with mashed potatoes, egg noodles or rice.
Ingredients
1 lb. lean ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
1/3 c. bread crumbs
1/4 c. milk
1/2 t. garlic powder
1/2 t. onion powder
salt and black pepper, to taste
1 egg
2 T. olive oil
Gravy:
1 T. butter
8 oz. fresh mushrooms, sliced
1 onion, diced
2 c. beef broth
1 T. Worcestershire sauce
1 t. Dijon mustard
2 T. flour
salt and pepper, to taste

Meatballs:
In a large bowl, mix together ground beef, bread crumbs, milk, garlic and onion powders, egg, salt and pepper, until well combined. Form the mixture into meatballs.
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat; brown meatballs on all sides. Remove from the skillet; set aside. Discard excess grease.
Gravy:
In the same skillet, melt the butter; add mushrooms and onion; cook until softened.
Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and onions; stir; cook 1-2 minutes.
Gradually add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.
Transfer the meatballs back to the skillet; cover; simmer on low heat for 10 minutes, or until meatballs are cooked through.
Season the gravy with salt and pepper, to taste.
Serve.
