Description
These gourmet meatballs are cooked in a creamy, savory, rich mushroom gravy. They are perfect to serve with mashed potatoes, egg noodles or rice.
Ingredients
- 1 lb. lean ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
- 1/3 c. bread crumbs
- 1/4 c. milk
- 1/2 t. garlic powder
- 1/2 t. onion powder
- salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 egg
- 2 T. olive oil
- Gravy:
- 1 T. butter
- 8 oz. fresh mushrooms, sliced
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 c. beef broth
- 1 T. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 t. Dijon mustard
- 2 T. flour
- salt and pepper, to taste
Steps
- Meatballs:
- In a large bowl, mix together ground beef, bread crumbs, milk, garlic and onion powders, egg, salt and pepper, until well combined. Form the mixture into meatballs.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat; brown meatballs on all sides. Remove from the skillet; set aside. Discard excess grease.
