An old favorite.
1 lb. hamburger, browned and drained
1/2 lb. pork sausage, browned and drained
1/2 onion, diced
2 c. mashed potatoes
2 egg yolks
2 egg whites
1/8 t. salt
1/2 c. chopped celery
1/2 c. tomato sauce
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
dot of butter
Brown meats and onion; drain.
Beat egg yolks, whip in egg whites and 1/8 t. salt. Spread on bottom of casserole with 1/2 potatoes. Add meat over celery and tomato sauce, then the rest of the potatoes. Top with butter and sprinkle with grated cheese. Bake at 400 degrees until top is brown, about 20 minutes.
