This easy pizza can be enjoyed as a main dish or as an appetizer. It is quick, you just use bakery French bread, ground beef, a jar of pizza sauce and fresh tomatoes and onions. Top it with cheese and you have a quick dish!
1 loaf French bread
1 lb. lean ground beef, drained
1/2 medium onion, chopped
1 -14 oz. jar your favorite pizza sauce
2 large tomatoes, sliced
2 c. Mozzarella cheese, shredded
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Cut French bread in half lengthwise. Then cut each piece in half again, making 4 pieces. Place the pieces of bread on a baking sheet, cut side up.
Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sautee onions for 3-5 minutes until translucent. Add ground beef and continue to cook until the beef is browned. Drain off grease. Stir in pizza sauce and cook for another 2 minutes. Remove from heat.
Spoon meat mixture onto bread slices, making sure to distribute evenly. Top with sliced tomatoes. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
Bake for 13-15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and starting to brown.
