Serve this Chinese restaurant inspired dish over rice for a complete meal. It is normally found at Cajun-themed Chinese restaurants, but is actually a dish named after Bourbon Street in New Orleans, Louisiana and for the bourbon whiskey ingredient.
4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
1 t. ground ginger
4 oz. soy sauce
2 T. dried onion flakes
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
3/8-1/2 c. bourbon
1/2 t. garlic powder
Place chicken in a 9×13 inch baking dish.
In a small bowl, combine ginger, soy sauce, onion flakes, brown sugar, bourbon and garlic powder. Mix together and pour over chicken. Cover dish and place in refrigerator.
Marinate overnight.
Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
Remove dish from refrigerator.
Bake uncovered in the oven, basting frequently, for 1 1/2 hours or until chicken is well browned and juices run clear.
