There is absolutely no reason to use store bought enchilada sauce when you can make your own effortlessly. When you make your own it is fresh and you control the taste!
1 T. oil
3 cloves garlic, crushed
1/2-3/4 t. oregano
1/2-3/4 t. basil
1/4 t. onion powder
1 T. your favorite chile powder, or to taste
1/8 t. freshly ground black pepper
1/4 t. salt, or to taste
1/4 t. cumin
1/4 c. salsa
28 oz. can crushed tomatoes
In a saucepan, saute garlic in oil for 1 minute over medium heat. Add the rest of the ingredients, stir well, and reduce heat to low. Cook over low heat, stirring frequently, for about 10-15 minutes.
