These cheesy meatballs are quick to make and so delicious. For a healthier version, you can make turkey or chicken meatballs instead. They will be just as good! Serve with a side of pasta and a salad.
24 oz. marinara sauce, your favorite kind
1 c. Mozzarella cheese, shredded
1 T. fresh basil, chopped
meatballs:
1 lb. lean ground beef (or a mixture of ground beef and ground pork)
1 T. garlic, minced
1 egg, beaten
1 T. Worcestershire sauce
½ c. Italian bread crumbs, regular or seasoned
½ c. grated Parmesan cheese
salt and pepper, to taste
Combine all meatball ingredients in a large mixing bowl; mix thoroughly.
Using an ice cream scoop, scoop out about 1 golf ball sized meatball mixture, then roll to make meatballs.
Over medium-high heat, brown meatballs in batches until evenly browned, about 5-8 minutes.
Remove meatballs; drain on a platter lined with paper towels. Remove any excess oil from the skillet.
Reduce heat to medium-low and pour marinara sauce in the skillet. Add meatballs back into the skillet and coat them in the marinara sauce. Simmer 5 minutes or until internal temperature of meatballs are 165 degrees F.
Top with Mozzarella cheese. Cover and simmer until cheese melts or broil at 450 degrees F for 3-5 minutes for browned cheese.
Serve hot, sprinkled with chopped fresh basil.
