Serve these delicious meatballs with egg noodles, mashed potatoes, rice or on a bun.
1 lb. ground pork or mixture of ground beef and pork
1 large onion, chopped
3 T. chopped dill
2 eggs
¾ c. breadcrumbs
¼ c. buttermilk
hot sauce, to taste
salt, to taste
pepper, to taste
½ lb. mushrooms
4 T. butter
¼ c. white wine or chicken broth/stock
½ c. heavy cream
2 c. beef broth/stock
3 T. all-purpose flour
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Chop onion and dill.
In a large bowl, add the ground meat, half the onion and half the dill. Add 2 eggs, the breadcrumbs, hot sauce, salt, pepper and buttermilk; mix well. Shape into meatballs; fry meatballs about 3 minutes per side.
Place meatballs on a cookie sheet; bake 30 minutes.
In a saucepan, melt the butter; add the onion; saute. Add mushrooms; saute 10 minutes. Add the flour; stir well then add the beef broth/stock; stir. Add the heavy cream, wine, salt and pepper; cook 10 minutes.
Add the meatballs to the mushroom sauce and dill. Cook 2 minutes.
Serve.
