If you have been to Cracker Barrel and have hadtheir Chicken and Dumplings, then you know how fabulous they are. Make them at home now with this easy and delicious recipe.
2 c. flour
½ t. baking powder
1 pinch salt
2 T. butter
1 cup milk, just a little less
2 qt. chicken broth
3 c. cooked chicken
In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Cut butter into the dry ingredients with a fork or pastry blender. Stir in milk, mixing with a fork until the dough forms a ball.
Cooking:
Bring broth to a boil; drop dumplings in one at a time, stirring while adding them. The flour on them helps thicken the broth. Cook about 15-20 minutes or until they not doughy tasting.
Add the cooked chicken to the pot.
Serve.
