You get home cooked goodness with this great dish. It's simple and tastes like you have slaved in the kitchen for hours.
6 oz. mushrooms, wiped off and sliced
1/2 onion, sliced
1 1/2 c. beef stock or broth
1 oz. package dry brown gravy mix
2 T. ketchup
1 t. Dijon mustard
2 T. fresh parsley
1/2- 1 green or red bell pepper, sliced and seeds removed, optional
2 T. corn starch
4 T. cold water
meat patties:
1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
1 egg yolk
¼ c. minced or grated onion
⅓ c. Panko bread crumbs
3 T. milk
2 cloves garlic, minced
salt, to taste
pepper, to taste
Line a slow cooker with a slow cooker liner for easy clean up. Spray liner with non-stick cooking spray.
Place the mushrooms and onions (and bell pepper, if using) in the bottom of the slow cooker.
Combine meat patty ingredients; form 6 patties.; brown over medium high heat in a greased skillet about 3 minutes per side.
Remove meat from skillet and place in the slow cooker over the mushrooms and onions.
Combine remaining ingredients except for the water and cornstarch. Pour this over the beef; cook on Low 5 hours.
When cooked, remove patties; set aside.
Turn slow cooker on High. Combine cold water and cornstarch and stir. Stir this into the broth/stock; cook a few minutes, until thickened. Add meat back into the sauce to coat.
Serve over mashed potatoes, egg noodles or rice.
