Description
It is so easy to make your own Nacho Cheese sauce and it tastes a million times better than canned. Serve with your favorite chips.
Ingredients
- 2 T. butter
- 2 T. flour
- 1 c. whole milk
- 1/4 t. salt
- 1/8 t. cayenne pepper
- 8 oz. block good quality Sharp cheddar cheese, grated (not bagged)
Steps
- Melt butter in a medium skillet over medium heat. When the butter is melted, add the flour; whisk until it combines into a smooth blond paste and starts to bubble around the edges.
- Add the milk to the skillet; continue whisking. When the milk is incorporated, raise heat to high; bring to a boil. When milk has reached a boil, quickly lower the heat and reduce to a simmer. Allow the sauce to thicken slightly.
- Add cayenne pepper and salt; whisk to combine.
