This is an economical dish to prepare for your family. Whether you are on a tight budget or not, everyone will enjoy this delicious one pot meal.
1 T. olive oil
2 lb. lean ground beef
1 large Vidalia onion, chopped
1 red or green bell pepper, washed, seeded and chopped
4 cloves garlic, chopped
3 c. water
29 oz. can tomato sauce
2 (14.5 oz.) cans fire roasted tomatoes or regular tomatoes
2 t. dried basil
2 t. dried oregano
1 t. garlic powder
2 cups favorite pasta
kosher salt, to taste
freshly ground black pepper, to taste
fresh chopped parsely, to taste
Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add ground beef; brown 10 minutes, breaking up while stirring. Add onion; continue to cook, while stirring, until tender, about 5 minutes.
Add remaining ingredients, except the pasta; cover and simmer 20 minutes.
Stir in pasta, cover with the lid, and simmer 30 minutes.
Let mixture stand 20 minutes before serving.
Serve with garlic bread. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley.
