Description
Are you looking for a new dinner idea? How about meatball sandwiches made in the slow cooker? They are almost effortless and so good you might have to double the recipe!
Ingredients
- 1 lb. lean ground beef (ground pork, mixture of ground pork and ground beef or ground turkey are good as well)
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. Italian bread crumbs
- 1 t. garlic powder
- 1/2 t. salt
- freshly ground black pepper
- 1 jar pasta sauce (or 24 oz. homemade pasta sauce)
- 4 submarine/hoagie/Italian rolls (6 in. long each)
- 4 oz. shredded Mozzarella cheese
- grated or shredded Parmesan cheese, optional
Steps
- In a medium bowl, combine ground meat with egg, bread crumbs, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.
- Line the slow cooker with a slow cooker liner for easy clean up.
- Form mixture into 12 meatballs, taking care not to make them too compact. Place meatballs in the bottom of the lined slow cooker. Pour pasta sauce over meatballs, making sure that each one is completely covered.
