Baby, it's cold outside! What is a better way to warm up than to make a pot of warm, delicious sausage, cabbage and potato soup? It's made easy using a roll of sausage, a bag of hash browns, cabbage and onion.
1 lb. roll Bob Evans sausage or your favorite brand
2 celery ribs, chopped
1⁄3 head cabbage, chopped
1 onion, chopped
5-7 cups water **
2 T. chicken bouillon
2 lb. bag of square cut hash browns
1⁄4 c. milk
1⁄2 c. sour cream
2 T. all-purpose flour
Brown sausage in a large skillet; remove the sausage with a slotted spoon; leave drippings and browned bits in the pan.
Chop celery, cabbage and onion. Cook in the drippings and browned bits from the sausage until soft, 10-15 minutes.
Transfer the cooked sausage and cabbage mixture to a large soup pot. Add the water, chicken bouillon and hash browns; cook over medium heat 30 minutes.
Mix the milk, sour cream and flour in a small bowl until smooth.
Add the milk mixture to the soup; simmer 10 minutes.
**Use between 5-7 cups of water. Start with 5 cups, and add more until you get the soup to your preferred consistency.
