The name is somewhat confusing, since bowtie pasta is used instead of ravioli, but nevertheless, it is a wonderfully delicious casserole. This meal is so easy and delicious, you will add it to your meal rotation. Serve it with a side salad and Texas toast
1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef mixture of ground beef and ground pork or ground turkey
1 c. white wine, optional
1 large onion, chopped
2-3 cloves garlic, minced
15 oz. can tomato sauce
15 oz. can stewed tomatoes
1 t. oregano
1 t. Italian seasoning
salt and pepper, to taste
10 oz. frozen spinach, thawed, squeezed, water discarded (fresh is good as well)
16 oz. bowtie pasta, cooked (cooked cheese ravioli could be used, if desired)
1/2 c. Parmesan cheese, shredded
1 1/2 cup Mozzarella, shredded and divided
In a skillet, brown ground beef with onion and garlic. Add wine, cook till wine is reduced a little. Discard any fat.
Place a crock-pot liner in the base of the crock for easy clean up.
Place meat in the lined crock-pot; add sauce, tomatoes and seasonings.
Cook 5-7 hours on Low.
Add the spinach, bowtie pasta, Parmesan cheese and 1 c. Mozzarella cheese during the final 30 minutes of cooking and turn crock-pot to High. Add the last 1/c.
Mozzarella to melt on the top.
6-8 servings.
