Don't serve boring meatballs. Instead serve these delicious meatballs made with ground beef, bacon, and breadcrumbs then served in a wonderful sauce of BBQ sauce and bourbon. Serve as an appetizer, with your favorite pasta or on a sandwich bun.
6 bacon slices
1/2 medium onion
1 lb. lean ground beef, ground beef and ground pork mix, ground turkey or your choice
1/2 c. breadcrumbs
2 T. freshly chopped parsley
1 large egg
1 t. chili powder
1 t. salt
1/2 t. pepper
1 T. vegetable oil
1 c. BBQ sauce
1/2 c. water
3 T. bourbon
Place the uncooked bacon into a food processor; process for about 1 minute or until bacon is finely ground up. Add in the onion; process until onion is finely chopped and mixed in.
Spoon bacon/onion mixture into a large bowl; add ground beef, breadcrumbs, parsley, egg, chili powder, and salt, pepper; stir to combine.
Scoop out meat mixture and roll into balls, making about 24- 1 inch meatballs.
Heat oil in large skillet over medium heat. Place meatballs into the skillet and cook, turning every couple of minutes to cook all sides evenly, about 8-10 minutes until fully cooked.
Remove the meatballs; set aside; remove pan from the heat; discard excess grease.
Add BBQ sauce, water and bourbon to the skillet; return to heat; stir to mix . Add in the meatballs; simmer in the sauce for at least 10 minutes.
