This dish will soon become a family favorite. It's delicious and full of flavor, creamy and super easy to prepare in the slow cooker.
4 boneless skinless chicken breast halves (4 oz. each)
1 envelope Italian salad dressing mix
1/4 c. water
8 oz. package cream cheese, softened
10 3/4 oz. can condensed cream of chicken soup, undiluted
4 oz. can mushroom stems and pieces, drained (or substitute frozen peas, if desired)
freshly ground black pepper, to taste
hot cooked pasta or rice
fresh oregano leaves, optional
Wash chicken and pat dry with paper towels.
Place a slow cooker liner in the crock of a 3 qt. slow cooker.
Place chicken in the slow cooker. In a small bowl, combine/stir Italian dressing mix and water; pour over chicken. Cover; cook on Low for 3 hours.
In a small bowl, beat together cream cheese and cream of chicken soup until blended; stir in mushrooms. Season with freshly ground black pepper. Pour over chicken.
Cook 1 hour longer or until chicken is tender.
Serve with cooked pasta or rice. Garnish with oregano, if desired.
