These burgers are very tasty and so much better for you than ground beef burgers. Serve on lettuce leaves to be healthier, or your favorite buns with your choice of toppings and condiments.
1 lb. ground chicken or turkey
1 large ripe but firm avocado, cut into chunks (not mashed)
1 garlic clove, chopped or garlic powder
⅓ c. Panko crumbs
1 Poblano or Jalapeño pepper, minced, optional
1 egg, optional
½ t. salt
¼ t. freshly ground black pepper
In a large bowl, place all ingredients; toss gently.
Shape into desired size patties.
Grill outside on the BBQ grill or on your inside grill on medium to medium high, 4 minutes per side.
Serve with or without buns, lettuce, tomatoes, onion and/or your favorite condiments.
Makes 4 burgers.
** They could also be baked for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
