Give your margaritas a little heat and kick with some fresh jalapenos and what better kind than watermelon? They are gorgeous, fresh, and delicious and could soon become your favorite margarita drink.
2 c. fresh watermelon juice
1/2 c. freshly squeezed lime juice
1/2 c. tequila
1/4 c. Triple Sec or any orange liqueur
thin slices of fresh jalapeño
Garnish:
salt or sugar to rim the glasses, frozen watermelon cubes, jalapeno slices, lime slices
Fresh Watermelon Juice:
Blend up a bunch of watermelon in a blender until smooth, then strain the juice out through a fine-mesh strainer. Or if you have a juicer, add the fresh watermelon directly into the juicer.
In a shaker, add the watermelon juice, lime juice, tequila, triple sec, and a slice or two of fresh jalapeño, starting with less jalapeño, then taste test to desired taste. More can always be added.
Use a muddler or a wooden spoon to gently muddle the jalapeño to release the flavor.
Shake the drink to combine. Pour into glasses that are salt or sugar, then garnish with pre-frozen watermelon ice cubes and/or lime or jalapeno slices, if desired.
Makes 3 cups.
