Never buy sloppy joe sauce again. It is so easy to make your own, it tastes just as good or even better and you know all the ingredients. Serve with your favorite sides, like chips and a dill pickle.
1 lb. lean ground beef
1/2 c. onion, chopped or grated
1/3 c. chopped celery
1/3 c. chopped green or red bell pepper
1/3 c. ketchup
¼ c. water
1 T. Worcestershire sauce
½ t. salt
1/8 t. red pepper sauce, optional
6 hamburger buns, split and toasted
Cook ground beef and onion in a 10 inch skillet over medium heat for 8 t-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until beef is brown; drain and discard grease. Stir in remaining ingredients. except buns.
Cover; simmer over low heat 10 - 15 minutes or just until vegetables are tender.
Toast the insides of the buns; fill buns with mixture. Serve.
