Make your cheeseburgers even more cheesy by making them with buns prepared from macaroni and cheese. Make your burgers as usual and top with condiments of choice.
2 packages Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, prepared or other similar brand with ingredients listed on package
1 egg, beaten
1 c. milk
3 c. bread crumbs
1 t. salt
1 t. dried oregano
1 t. crushed red pepper flakes
1/2 t. granulated garlic
2 t. dried basil
oil, for deep drying
cooked hamburgers and condiments of your choosing
Line a 9 x 13 inch pan with parchment paper.
Prepare macaroni and cheese as directed on the package; cool; put it in prepared pan, pressing down evenly; cover; place in freezer for 2 hours or more, until needed.
Combine beaten egg and milk in shallow dipping bowl.
On a separate plate or in a large shallow bowl, combine bread crumbs, salt, oregano, red pepper flakes, basil and garlic.
Heat oil to 350-375 degrees.
Remove frozen macaroni from parchment; use a cup to cut out circles in the macaroni and cheese for use as buns; dip each into egg wash; coat with crumbs.
Fry 5-6 in hot oil until both sides are golden brown; remove from oil and place on paper towels. Repeat until all macaroni has been fried.
When macaroni buns are done, put together the rest of the burger.
