Description

Ingredients

  • butter, for greasing the dish
  • 8 eggs
  • 1 1⁄2 c. half-and-half
  • 1⁄3 c. maple syrup
  • 1⁄3 c. light brown sugar, packed
  • 10 -12 slices bread, sliced 1 inch thick (day old French bread)
  • Topping:
  • 1⁄2 c. butter
  • 1⁄2 c. light brown sugar, packed
  • 2⁄3 c. maple syrup
  • 2 c. pecans, chopped

Steps

  1. Generously butter a 13 X 9 inch casserole dish.
  2. Mix eggs, half-and-half, maple syrup, and brown sugar in a large bowl. Place bread slices in the prepared casserole dish (tilted up somewhat); cover with egg mixture; cover with plastic wrap; allow to soak overnight in refrigerator.
  3. The next morning, preheat oven to 350 degrees. Remove casserole from refrigerator.
