Make an amazing brunch or breakfast during the holidays with this delicious casserole. It will be a huge hit with your guests and is so simple to make, you just may treat yourself occasionally as well.
Ingredients
- butter, for greasing the dish
- 8 eggs
- 1 1⁄2 c. half-and-half
- 1⁄3 c. maple syrup
- 1⁄3 c. light brown sugar, packed
- 10 -12 slices bread, sliced 1 inch thick (day old French bread)
- Topping:
- 1⁄2 c. butter
- 1⁄2 c. light brown sugar, packed
- 2⁄3 c. maple syrup
- 2 c. pecans, chopped
Steps
- Generously butter a 13 X 9 inch casserole dish.
- Mix eggs, half-and-half, maple syrup, and brown sugar in a large bowl. Place bread slices in the prepared casserole dish (tilted up somewhat); cover with egg mixture; cover with plastic wrap; allow to soak overnight in refrigerator.
- The next morning, preheat oven to 350 degrees. Remove casserole from refrigerator.
