Make your holiday dinner special with this delicious ham. It's simple to prepare and in just a few hours you will be enjoying it at your festive holiday table.
1 bone-in, fully-cooked half ham (about 7 - 8 lb.)
1 bottle (750 ml) Riesling wine (divided)
1 jar (7.3 oz.) coarse grain mustard, divided
1 1/2 t. cornstarch, dissolved in 2 T. water
Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
Score surface of ham. Place ham cut-side down in a heavy roasting pan just slightly larger than the ham. Add wine to depth of 1⁄2 inch.
Bake, adding wine as needed until internal temperature is 130 degrees, about 1 1/2 - 2 hours.
Remove ham from oven; increase oven temperature to 425 degrees. Pour remaining wine over ham. Reserving 1 T. mustard for sauce, brush remaining mustard over ham. Bake until top is golden brown and internal temperature is 140 degrees, about 10 minutes. Remove from oven. Cover; let stand 20 minutes before slicing.
Transfer drippings to a medium skillet; let stand 10 minutes; skim fat from top of drippings. Add reserved mustard; bring to a boil; cook, stirring often until reduced to 2 cups. Whisk in cornstarch mixture; cook stirring constantly until thickened.
Serve sauce over ham.
12 servings.
