These melt in your mouth cube steaks cook all day in your slow cooker to make a comforting, simple dish in a nice gravy. Serve with your favorite sides, like mashed potatoes, rice or egg noodles and a side salad.
1 lb. cubed steak, about 4 pieces
flour, for breading
3 T. oil
1 c. sliced fresh mushrooms
3 c. water, divided
3 - one oz. packets envelopes beef gravy or mushroom gravy, or your favorite
On a plate or platter, dredge cubed steak in flour.
Heat oil in a skillet; place in hot oil to fry; brown/sear on both sides, not cooking it all the way through.
Place cubed steaks in slow cooker; add mushrooms; cover with 2 c. water. Cook on Low for 8 hours.
30 minutes before serving, in a small bowl, mix the gravy packets with the remaining cup of water.
Pour the gravy mixture over the cubed steaks. Cook for 30 minutes or until the gravy has thickened to your liking.
