Cooler weather is coming soon and it's the perfect time to serve chili. But instead of the typical chili, try this kielbasa and BBQ bean recipe for a change. It's comfort food at its best.
2 - 15 oz. cans black beans, drained and rinsed
2 - 15.8 oz. Great Northern beans, drained and rinsed
1 - 15.25 oz. can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 onion, diced
1/2 c. BBQ sauce
3/4 c. ketchup
1 T. Worcestershire sauce
1 T. mustard
1 t. chili powder
1 T. apple cider vinegar
1/2 c. maple syrup
1/4 c. molasses
1 14.5 oz. can chicken stock/broth
1/2 lb. bacon, cooked, cut into bite size pieces
2 lb. Kielbasa sausage, cut into bite size pieces (your favorite)
Place a slow cooker liner in a large slow cooker for easy clean up. Add all ingredients except for the kielbasa sausage; stir to combine; place sausage on top; cover. Cook on low 6 - 8 hours or on high 4 - 5 hours. Stir in the kielbasa right before serving.
12 servings.
*If possible, use the low setting for this recipe because on high, the beans tend to get dried out. If you need to cook on high due to time constraints, monitor the beans and add more stock/broth or water if necessary.
