This will be the most requested main dish in your house after making it just once. It's super easy and delicious and is comfort food at its best.
6 oz. package ziti pasta, cooked and drained
salt, for cooking water
1 T. olive oil
1 c. chopped onion
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 lb. lean ground beef
32 oz. jar meatless spaghetti sauce
1 c. chicken stock/broth
pinch of salt
1 t. onion powder
1 t. garlic powder
1 t. pepper
1 t. dried oregano leaves
2 c. shredded Mozzarella cheese
1 c. grated Parmesan cheese
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cook ziti pasta in well salted boiling water following package directions; drain; set aside.
In a large skillet, heat oil; cook onions for 8 minutes; add garlic; cook for 1 minute. Add ground beef; cook and stir until no longer pink; discard excess fat. Stir in sauce, chicken stock/broth, pepper, salt, onion powder, garlic powder and oregano. Cook until heated through.
Stir 1 c. sauce into ziti pasta; place 1/2 of the ziti into a 13 × 9 baking dish. Add 1 1/2 c. Mozzarella and 1/2 c. Parmesan cheeses. Top with remaining sauce.
Top with remaining pasta.
Cover with aluminum foil; bake for 20 minutes. Sprinkle with Mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Bake until cheese is golden brown.
