Make your own taco seasoning at home. It tastes better than the store bought version, you can tailor it to your own taste, it's easy and you know exactly what's in it.
4 T. chili powder
1 t. red pepper flakes
¼ t. cayenne pepper
1 t. oregano
2 t. smoked paprika
2 T. ground cumin
1 t. garlic powder
1 t. onion powder
1 T. kosher salt
1 T. freshly ground black pepper
In a small bowl, stir together all spices.
Use 2-4 T. per pound of meat.
Store the seasoning mix in an airtight container, like a glass mason jar. It keeps easily for months.
*This homemade seasoning would equal 2 – 2 1/2 T. per store bought seasoning packet.
