Description
This is a fun, delicious twist on a classic pizza dish. It becomes almost a deep dish pizza. The recipe can easily be adapted according to desired tastes.
Ingredients
- 2 T. olive oil, divided
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, seeded and thinly sliced into rings
- non-stick cooking spray
- ½ c. pepperoni, sliced
- ¾ c. grated Parmesan cheese
- ¾ c. shredded Mozzarella cheese
- 7 slices Provolone cheese
- 1-2 c. pizza sauce
- all-purpose flour, for dusting
- 1 lb. store bought pizza dough
Steps
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Heat 1 T. olive oil in a 12-inch cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat; once hot, add onion; cook until softened, about 4 minutes; remove from skillet; set aside. Add green pepper rings; cook until softened, about 5 minutes; remove from skillet; set aside. Turn off heat.
- Spray skillet with non-stick spray.
