Description
You can enjoy a more economical beef stroganoff using ground beef. It's just as good as the classic recipe with a delicious, creamy sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 T. olive oil
- 1 lb. lean ground beef
- 1/2 medium onion, diced
- 1 lb. mushrooms, sliced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 T. all-purpose flour
- 1 c. beef broth or beef stock
- 1 c. whipping cream
- 1/3 c. sour cream
- 1 T. Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 t. salt, or to taste
- 1/2 t. black pepper, or to taste
- cooked noodles, rice or potatoes, for serving
Steps
- Preheat a heavy, deep pan over medium-high heat; add olive oil. Add ground beef; stir, breaking down beef into small pieces.; discard any excess grease. Add onions and garlic; saute until onion is translucent and golden brown. Add mushrooms; saute 5 minutes.
- Add flour; stir until incorporated and there are no lumps.
- Add beef broth, whipping cream, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper; bring to a simmer. Turn heat to low; simmer for about 5 minutes. Remove from heat; add sour cream; stir; season to taste, if needed.
