Slow Cooker Ham with Brown Sugar Glaze

Description

Let your slow cooker do all of the work and free up space in your oven for other yummy dishes. It's perfectly cooked and topped with a delicious glaze.

Ingredients

non-stick cooking spray
8 lb. spiral cut ham
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. pure maple syrup (NOT pancake syrup)
1 c. pineapple juice
optional fresh herbs, for garnish

Coat a 7 - 8 quart slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray.

Place ham cut side down in the slow cooker.

Rub the brown sugar all over the ham; pour maple syrup and pineapple juice over the top.

Cook 3-4 hours on LOW or until a meat thermometer is 140 degrees F when inserted into the thickest part of the ham.

Transfer the ham to a large serving platter.

*Pour the liquid from the slow cooker into a medium sized sauce pan over the stove top; cook on medium-high heat; bring liquid to a simmer; cook sauce 6-8 minutes or until just thickened.

Pour sauce over the ham. If desired, decorate the platter with fresh herbs.

8 servings.

*For a thicker glaze, whisk together 1 T. corn starch with 2 T. cold water; add to the pan when simmering the liquid from the slow cooker.
