Lasagna is so delicious but so time consuming. Make it easier by cooking it in your slow cooker.
non-stick cooking spray
1 lb. extra-lean ground beef
1 yellow onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 t. salt
1/4 t. black pepper
2 - 24 oz. jars favorite marina sauce
1 lb. lasagna noodles (oven ready or regular)
1 lb. container ricotta cheese
2 c. mozzarella cheese
1/2 c. water
chopped fresh parsley or basil, for garnish
In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium-high heat until almost cooked through; discard any excess grease; add onions, garlic, salt, pepper and 1 jar marinara sauce; stir.
Spray slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray; add a layer of meat sauce; add lasagna noodles, broken if need be to fit; add some ricotta and mozzarella cheeses; add more meat sauce. All layers should be about 1 inch thick. Repeat layers until the slow cooker is full, 3 layers total.
Pour the second jar of marinara on top of lasagna; add mozzarella cheese on top. Pour water in on the sides.
Cook on High for 3 hours, or on Low for 6 hours.
Serve, garnished with parsley or basil.
