Ingredients
- Ginger Sesame Teriyaki Sauce:
- 1 c. water
- 1/4 c. soy sauce
- 1/4 c. light brown sugar, packed
- 2 T. honey
- 2 T. sesame seeds, toasted
- 1 t. fresh ginger, grated
- 1/2 t. garlic powder
- 2 T. cornstarch (mixed with 1/4 c. cold water)
- Hawaiian Cheeseburgers:
- 1 lb. 5/15 ground beef or 80/20 ground chuck
- 1/2 t. sesame seed oil
- 1/2 t. salt, or to taste
- 1/4 t. black pepper
- 1/2 t. paprika
- 4 brioche or hamburger buns, toasted or grilled
- 8 rings pineapple, grilled (2 per burger, fresh or canned)
- 4 slices Provolone or Cheddar cheese
- 8 large leaves green leaf lettuce, rinsed and patted dry
Steps
- Ginger Sesame Teriyaki Sauce:
- In a medium saucepan, combine water, soy sauce, light brown sugar, honey, toasted sesame seeds, ginger, and garlic powder. Heat to medium-high; combine cornstarch with cold water and add to the sauce. Cook on medium-high until a slow boil is reached, reducing heat, if necessary. Cook until the sauce thickens, adding more water to thin the sauce, only if it thickens too quickly. Remove from heat; allow to cool to room temperature, about 15 minutes.
