Description
You'll be asked to make this French Toast often, it's so good. It's easy to prepare and delicious.
Ingredients
- 4 T. butter
- 1/4 c. light brown sugar
- pinch ground cinnamon
- 3 ripe bananas, peeled, cut into 1/2-inch-thick rounds
- 4 oz. cream cheese, at room temperature
- 12 thick slices Brioche challah, French bread, or Italian bread
- Egg Batter:
- 4 large eggs
- 1 c. whole milk
- 1 t. ground cinnamon
- 1 t. rum extract, optional
- Toppings:
- butter, maple syrup, fruit, whipped cream, jam or powdered sugar
Steps
- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. When melted, add the brown sugar and cinnamon; stir until the sugar melts into the butter and becomes a sauce. Add bananas; toss together.
- Cook until bananas are slightly soft and incorporated into the sauce. Transfer to a bowl; cool completely. You could place it in the refrigerator to speed it up. Once cool, add cream cheese; mash lightly.
- Gently spoon 1/6 of the cream cheese mixture on 1 slice of bread; top with another slice. Repeat with remaining bread.
