Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper.

In a small bowl, combine the butter and garlic; stir well; set aside.

Place the bread loaf on a cutting board; use a sharp bread knife to cut the bread diagonally in rows across the top, down to 1-inch above the base in depth, being careful not to cut through to the base of the loaf. Hold the bread firmly over the top to cut through in rows in the other direction to make diamond shaped wedges.

Transfer loaf to the prepared baking sheet.

Drizzle half of the garlic butter in between wedges, followed by the pizza sauce. Follow with the onions, tomatoes, pepperoni slices, basil, and cheese.

Drizzle the remaining garlic butter over the top; top with the Italian herbs or seasoning. Cover with aluminum foil.

Bake for 15 - 20 minutes or until cheese has started to melt.
Remove foil; bake 10 more minutes, or until bread is crunchy and the cheese has melted all the way through.

Remove from oven. Allow to cool slightly.

Serve.

8 servings.
